Liberty Springs Shepherds is, first and foremost, a family endeavor.
Matthew and Aimee met in 2016 and married in 2018, blending a family of four children that has since grown to include spouses and grandchildren. Life here is rarely quiet—and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Matthew is active duty in the U. S. Army with a background in law enforcement and K-9 handling. His experience working alongside dogs in a professional setting helped shape an appreciation for the intelligence, confidence, trainability, and working ability that make the German Shepherd such an extraordinary breed.
Aimee brings a background in nursing, behavioral health, leadership, and animal care to the day-to-day operation of Liberty Springs Shepherds. She manages much of the breeding program, puppy development, family communication, health records, and the countless details involved in raising each litter from birth until go-home day.
Together, we share a deep respect for the German Shepherd Dog and a commitment to raising dogs that are prepared not simply to leave our home—but to become part of someone else's.
Our dogs and puppies are raised as part of our everyday life in Western North Carolina.
That means our program doesn't exist separately from our family. Our children and grandchildren are part of the noise, movement, affection, routines, and experiences our puppies encounter as they grow. From those first tiny days with their mother to the confident puppies preparing to meet their new families, we're there for all of it.
We believe those early experiences matter.
Our goal is to give every puppy a thoughtful beginning through attentive care, age-appropriate socialization, exposure to everyday life, and the opportunity to develop confidence before leaving us.
And when one of our puppies goes home, our relationship with that family doesn't simply end at the driveway.
One of our favorite parts of breeding is watching a puppy we once held in our hands grow into someone's beloved companion.
We love the pup-dates. We love seeing first birthdays, family adventures, muddy paws, sleeping positions that make absolutely no sense, training accomplishments, and the everyday moments that tell us one of our dogs is exactly where it belongs.
That lifelong connection is an important part of Liberty Springs Shepherds.
We want our puppy families to know who raised their dog, why we made the decisions we made, and that they can come back to us with questions, updates, milestones, and plenty of pictures.
Our puppies may begin their lives with our family, but we're raising them with yours in mind.
