In order to reserve a specific puppy or secure a place to choose from a specific litter, Liberty Springs Shepherds requires a non-refundable $200 deposit.
Depositors select their puppy in the order deposits are received unless the deposit is being placed on a specific puppy that has already been chosen.
If you are hoping for a specific coat type, coat color, eye color, markings, or other physical characteristic, please understand that these features continue to develop as the puppy matures. Adult coat type, coat color, eye color, markings, ear carriage, and overall appearance are not guaranteed and can only be estimated based on our experience and the puppy's development at the time of selection.
Once a deposit is received, that puppy or selection position is reserved for you. We stop advertising that puppy, stop accepting additional applications for that spot, and may turn away other qualified homes. Because of this commitment, deposits are non-refundable.
We accept:
A 3% processing fee applies to electronic payments.
If unforeseen circumstances arise and you are unable to complete the purchase, please contact us immediately.
If the puppy is five (5) weeks of age or younger, your deposit may be transferred to another available puppy or future litter within the same calendar year. If the deposit is not used within that calendar year, it will be forfeited unless other arrangements have been approved by Liberty Springs Shepherds.
Any money paid toward the purchase of a puppy is NON-REFUNDABLE.
This includes:
Puppies are expected to be picked up at approximately eight (8) weeks of age unless other arrangements have been approved.
If a puppy is not picked up by nine (9) weeks of age and no approved boarding arrangement is in place, the puppy may be considered abandoned and may be rehomed without refund, reimbursement, replacement puppy, or future credit.
The remaining balance is due in CASH at the time of pickup unless otherwise agreed to in writing prior to pickup.
By submitting a deposit, the Buyer acknowledges that they have read, understand, and agree to these terms.
A deposit isn’t just “sending money.”
It’s you committing to a specific puppy—and us committing that puppy to you.
Once a deposit is placed, we stop advertising that puppy, stop accepting inquiries for that puppy, and turn away other qualified homes.
If someone changes their mind weeks later, valuable time has been lost and other families who were ready to commit may have already moved on.
That’s why deposits are non-refundable.
Not because we’re trying to make money from deposits, but because time, planning, and opportunities have already been invested in reserving that puppy for you.
Deposits help keep the process fair, organized, and intentional for both the breeder and the families on our waiting list.
At Liberty Springs Shepherds, all deposit policies, purchase terms, and expectations are explained before any money is accepted. We encourage questions and want every family to feel comfortable and informed before making a commitment. If you're unsure, ask questions—you absolutely should.
However, labeling all breeder deposits as scams is simply not accurate and unfairly discredits responsible breeders who operate transparently and ethically. These aren’t items sitting on a shelf waiting to be purchased. They are living puppies, and every reservation represents a real commitment from both the breeder and the future family.
If you're not ready to commit, you're not ready for a puppy.
Liberty Springs Shepherds
Raised with Purpose • Bred for Excellence • Loved for Life

Understanding Unforeseen Events We realize that life happens. Sometimes unforeseen events occur that make it impossible for a family to move forward with a puppy they have committed to. However, because a puppy held for one family is a puppy that we must turn other families away for, we have established the following rules regarding payments and timelines.
The Deposit
The Pickup Window
Forfeiture of Puppy and Funds If a puppy is not picked up by the time it reaches 9 weeks of age—and no prior boarding arrangement has been made—the following will occur:
This policy is in place to ensure that every puppy finds its forever home during their critical development stage and to prevent delays that affect the puppy's transition to a new family.
We are so excited to introduce you to your new family member! To ensure a smooth transition and a safe ride home, please review this checklist and come prepared.
When you arrive, we will provide you with a "Starter Pack" to help the puppy settle in, which includes:
Please confirm your arrival time at least 24 hours in advance. We want to make sure your puppy is fed, clean, and ready to go when you pull in!
We can't wait to see you!
Congratulations on your new puppy! The first few days in a new home are exciting, but they can also be stressful for a young puppy. Please review the following safety recommendations to help your puppy have a smooth transition.
☐ Bring a crate, puppy carrier, or secure travel area for your puppy.
☐ Bring paper towels, puppy pads, and a clean towel for the ride home.
☐ If possible, bring a second person to travel with you.
German Shepherd puppies often feel more secure when someone rides in the back seat with them during the trip home.
A second person can:
Never allow a puppy to ride unrestrained in a moving vehicle.
Your puppy's immune system is still developing.
☐ Do NOT allow your puppy to walk on the ground at:
These locations may harbor dangerous viruses, bacteria, parasites, and other infectious diseases.
If your puppy must potty during travel:
☐ Use a clean towel, blanket, or puppy pad.
☐ Choose an isolated grassy area away from heavy dog traffic whenever possible.
Remember: A few minutes of caution can prevent serious illness.
☐ Schedule a wellness examination within 2–3 days of bringing your puppy home.
Bring:
Your veterinarian will help establish a vaccination and preventive care schedule.
Your puppy is NOT fully protected immediately after receiving vaccinations.
☐ Avoid dog parks until the vaccine series is complete.
☐ Avoid interaction with unknown dogs.
☐ Avoid pet store floors.
☐ Avoid boarding facilities unless medically necessary.
Most puppies do not develop full vaccine protection until approximately 16 weeks of age.
German Shepherd ears contain delicate cartilage that continues developing for several months.
To help ears develop properly:
☐ Do NOT fold, bend, tape, or play with the ears.
☐ Do NOT allow children to pull or handle the ears roughly.
☐ Do NOT massage, pinch, or manipulate the ears.
☐ Separate your puppy from dogs that play excessively rough.
☐ Prevent biting, grabbing, or chewing on the ears.
☐ Monitor interactions with larger dogs.
Bites, scratches, punctures, and repeated trauma can create scar tissue that may permanently prevent the ears from standing properly.
Protecting ear cartilage during puppyhood is one of the most important things you can do for proper ear development.
☐ Continue feeding the same food used by Liberty Springs Shepherds unless transitioning gradually.
☐ Provide fresh, clean water at all times.
☐ Monitor food intake closely during the first week.
A reduced appetite during the first 24–48 hours can be normal due to stress from relocation.
Contact your veterinarian immediately if your puppy develops:
☐ Vomiting
☐ Diarrhea
☐ Loss of appetite
☐ Extreme lethargy
☐ Difficulty breathing
☐ Persistent coughing
☐ Fever
☐ Unusual behavior
Puppies can decline quickly. Early treatment often makes a significant difference.
Your puppy has just experienced:
Be patient, consistent, and loving as your puppy adjusts to its new home.
This Sales Agreement and Genetic Health Warranty is intended to protect both the Buyer and Liberty Springs Shepherds by clearly defining the responsibilities, expectations, warranties, and conditions associated with the purchase of a puppy.
Each puppy sale is unique. Therefore, certain provisions, purchase terms, registration status, breeding rights, and special conditions may vary from one puppy to another and will be specified within the individual puppy contract.
All puppies produced by Liberty Springs Shepherds are required to carry the "Liberty Springs Shepherds" kennel prefix in their registered name. The kennel prefix will be included on the original registration paperwork.
After the kennel prefix, the Buyer may choose the remainder of the puppy's registered name, subject to the rules of the applicable registry.
Registration status (Full Registration, Limited Registration, or Pet Only/No Papers) will be specified in the individual puppy contract and should be confirmed by the Buyer prior to purchase.
Liberty Springs Shepherds provides a One (1) Year Serious Genetic Health Warranty against hereditary or congenital genetic defects.
A serious genetic defect is defined as a hereditary or congenital condition that:
This warranty does not cover any illness, disease, parasite, infection, virus, bacteria, fungus, injury, accident, neglect, abuse, environmental condition, or other health issue acquired after the puppy leaves Liberty Springs Shepherds.
The following conditions are not considered serious genetic defects and are specifically excluded from warranty coverage:
Because puppies continue to develop throughout adolescence and adulthood, no guarantee is made regarding adult coat type, coat color, eye color, ear carriage, markings, size, weight, or overall appearance.
If a covered serious genetic defect is confirmed during the warranty period, Liberty Springs Shepherds will provide one replacement puppy of equal value from a future available litter.
In order to qualify for a replacement puppy:
The original dog generally does not need to be returned.
A replacement puppy of equal value means:
If the Buyer chooses a puppy with a higher purchase price than the replacement puppy offered, the Buyer shall be responsible for paying the difference.
The sole remedy provided under this warranty is a replacement puppy.
No cash refunds, veterinary reimbursements, medication reimbursements, transportation costs, boarding fees, training expenses, emotional distress claims, or other monetary compensation shall be provided under any circumstance.
Certain puppies may be sold with Full Registration and breeding rights. Other puppies may be sold with Limited Registration or as Pet Only puppies.
Breeding rights are granted solely at the discretion of Liberty Springs Shepherds and will be clearly stated in the individual puppy contract.
Buyers interested in breeding must purchase a puppy with Full Registration. Not all puppies will be sold with breeding rights.
The Buyer is responsible for confirming registration status and breeding rights before purchasing a puppy.
Liberty Springs Shepherds does not require neutering of male dogs; however, breeding rights are determined solely by the registration status assigned at the time of sale.
Liberty Springs Shepherds will provide the Buyer with a record of all vaccinations, deworming treatments, medications, microchip information (if applicable), and other routine healthcare administered to the puppy prior to leaving for its new home.
The Buyer acknowledges that the puppy's vaccination and deworming schedule is not complete at the time of purchase and that additional vaccinations, deworming treatments, and preventive healthcare will be necessary.
The Buyer is solely responsible for:
Failure to follow recommended veterinary care, vaccination schedules, deworming protocols, or preventive healthcare may void any health warranty provided by Liberty Springs Shepherds.
Liberty Springs Shepherds makes no guarantee that a puppy will remain free of contagious illnesses, parasites, viruses, bacteria, fungi, or protozoa after leaving our care, as exposure and environmental conditions are beyond our control.
The Buyer agrees to provide proper care for the puppy throughout its lifetime, including but not limited to:
The Buyer agrees that the puppy will not be neglected, abused, abandoned, used for illegal activities, or surrendered to a shelter, rescue organization, auction, broker, research facility, or pet store without first notifying Liberty Springs Shepherds. The Buyer understands that puppies are highly susceptible to contagious diseases and environmental stressors. Until the puppy's vaccination series is complete, the Buyer agrees to limit unnecessary exposure to unknown dogs, public dog parks, pet store floors, boarding facilities, and other high-risk environments. The Buyer acknowledges that stress from transportation, relocation, dietary changes, vaccinations, deworming, and separation from littermates may temporarily affect the puppy's appetite, digestion, behavior, and immune system. The Buyer agrees to closely monitor the puppy during the transition period and seek prompt veterinary attention if signs of illness occur, including but not limited to:
Failure to provide reasonable and appropriate care may void any warranty provided by Liberty Springs Shepherds.
