At Liberty Springs Shepherds, our application and reservation process helps us get to know each prospective family while giving you the information you need to make an informed decision.

There is no obligation to place a deposit simply by submitting an application. We encourage prospective families to ask questions, learn about our program, and make sure Liberty Springs Shepherds is the right fit for them.

Every Liberty Springs Shepherds placement begins with an application. Our application helps us learn about your household, experience with dogs, lifestyle, expectations, and what you are looking for in a German Shepherd.

Applications are reviewed individually. Our goal is not simply to place puppies—it is to make thoughtful matches between our dogs and families who are prepared for the commitment of German Shepherd ownership.

Submitting an application does not require a deposit and does not guarantee approval or puppy availability.

Approved applicants may move forward with a reservation for an available puppy or an upcoming litter.

Your place is secured once the required deposit and reservation requirements have been completed.

As puppies develop, temperament, drive, energy level, family lifestyle, buyer preferences, and intended purpose are considered when helping families select the best fit.

Once your application has been approved, a non-refundable $200 deposit is required to reserve a specific puppy or secure a selection position for a specific litter.

For litter reservations, puppy selection occurs in the order deposits are received unless a deposit has been placed on a specific available puppy that has already been selected.

Once your deposit is received, your puppy or selection position is reserved for you. For a specific puppy, we stop advertising that puppy and may turn away other qualified families who inquire about them.

For this reason, deposits are non-refundable.

A 3% processing fee applies to electronic payments.

For a standard $200 deposit, the electronic-payment total is $206.00.

We understand that circumstances can change. If you are unable to complete your purchase, please contact Liberty Springs Shepherds as soon as possible.

Deposit transfers are not automatic and require breeder approval. When approved, a deposit may be transferred one time to another puppy or future litter and must be used within 12 months of the original deposit date.

If you are hoping for a particular coat type, color, markings, eye color, or other physical characteristic, please remember that puppies continue to develop after selection.

Adult coat color, coat type, eye color, markings, ear carriage, size, and overall appearance cannot be guaranteed.

We will always share our best assessment based on genetics, pedigree, experience, and the puppy's development at the time of selection.

Puppies are generally ready to join their families at approximately eight weeks of age.

Unless another arrangement has been approved in writing, the remaining balance is due in cash at pickup. 

Additional pickup, boarding, payment, cancellation, and purchase terms are provided to approved buyers and are contained within the Liberty Springs Shepherds Puppy Sales Agreement & Warranty Handbook.

By placing a deposit, buyers acknowledge that they have reviewed and agreed to the applicable reservation and deposit terms.

At Liberty Springs Shepherds, we do not use a one-size-fits-all pricing model. Every litter—and every puppy—is unique. Pricing is determined individually based on the qualities, genetics, pedigree, and intended placement of each puppy.

• Pedigree and lineage, including companion and working bloodlines 
• Breeding pair and program goals 
• Health-tested parents and genetic background 
• Coat color and genetic rarity 
• Patterning, including Panda, Brindle, Blue Brindle, and other distinctive markings 
• Coat type, including Standard and Long Coat 
• Registration and purchase option 
• Overall quality, structure, temperament, and breeding potential 

While many families initially discover Liberty Springs Shepherds because of our distinctive colors and patterns, we believe an exceptional German Shepherd is defined by far more than appearance. Health, temperament, structure, intelligence, pedigree, and sound genetics remain at the foundation of our breeding decisions. Color and pattern are distinctions—not substitutes for quality.

For this reason, puppies within the same litter may be priced differently, and pricing may also vary between litters.

We offer three purchase options so families can choose the option appropriate for their goals:

Pet Companion — No Registration Papers
The same Liberty Springs quality and breeder support for families seeking a companion without registration paperwork.

AKC Limited Registration
For approved families who would like AKC registration without breeding rights.

AKC Full Registration
Available on select puppies to approved homes for breeding and/or showing. Full registration is offered solely at the discretion of Liberty Springs Shepherds.

AKC-registered puppies carry the Liberty Springs Shepherds kennel prefix as part of their registered name.

We are happy to discuss anticipated pricing before a family makes a commitment. Once puppies are available and individually evaluated, applicable pricing and purchase options will be clearly communicated.

Every Liberty Springs Shepherd receives the same foundation of thoughtful breeding, exceptional care, early development, and lifetime breeder support—regardless of registration status.

Full AKC Registration and breeding rights are available only on select puppies and are offered at the sole discretion of Liberty Springs Shepherds.

All puppies sold with AKC registration carry the Liberty Springs Shepherds kennel prefix as part of their registered name, helping preserve the identity and history of our breeding program.

RESERVATION & DEPOSIT INFORMATION — PDF

Placing a deposit represents a commitment from both the buyer and Liberty Springs Shepherds. We encourage you to ask any questions before making that commitment.

Our goal is to make your puppy’s transition from Liberty Springs Shepherds to your family as smooth and safe as possible.

8 Weeks — Standard Pickup
Puppies are generally ready to join their new families at approximately eight weeks of age, depending on health, development, and veterinary recommendations.

Through 9 Weeks — Courtesy Holding Period
If scheduling or travel prevents pickup at eight weeks, we can continue caring for your puppy through nine weeks of age at no additional charge, provided the puppy has been paid in full and arrangements have been made in advance.

After 9 Weeks — Approved Boarding
When additional time is necessary, boarding may be available for $50 per week, payable in advance. Extended stays must be discussed and approved by Liberty Springs Shepherds in advance.

We understand that travel delays, family emergencies, military obligations, and other unexpected circumstances can occur. If something affects your scheduled pickup, contact us as soon as possible.

If a puppy has not been picked up by nine weeks of age and no approved boarding arrangement is in place, the purchase may be considered abandoned. The puppy may be made available to another approved family, and deposits and payments will be forfeited in accordance with our Reservation & Deposit Policy. 

Prior to your scheduled pickup, Liberty Springs Shepherds will provide instructions regarding:

Buyers should also schedule their puppy’s first veterinary wellness examination for within 72 hours of going home.

Your puppy is almost ready to come home!

Before pickup, every Liberty Springs family receives detailed instructions to help make pickup day and the trip home as smooth and safe as possible.

We recommend bringing:

Secure crate or travel carrier • Clean towels • Puppy pads • Paper towels/wipes • Water and a small dish • Required paperwork • Valid identification • Final payment

Whenever possible, we also recommend bringing a second person so someone can safely monitor and comfort your puppy during the ride home.

Your puppy will leave Liberty Springs Shepherds with their individual health and vaccination/deworming records, applicable registration paperwork, transition food, a familiar scent item, and the information you'll need for those important first days at home.

Young puppies are not fully vaccinated when they leave us. Avoid allowing your puppy to walk in high-traffic dog areas such as rest stops, gas stations, pet-store floors, dog parks, and travel plazas on the trip home.
